From archaic musical rituals to future medical interventions
Medical and music-ethnological research at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig has led to novel approaches in therapy and prevention. Scientific data demonstrate that an enhanced musical-emotional engagement systematically stimulates hidden resources of the human motor system. This process significantly improves motor performance while positively impacting cognitive and immunological parameters. This presentation provides a comprehensive overview of the JYMMiN research history and its current therapeutic applications.
