Welcome to MUNICH Beyond: Bavaria Meets the International XR Ecosystem

This session offers an introduction to Bavaria’s rapidly growing XR ecosystem and to the second edition of MUNICH Beyond, launched in 2025 as a joint initiative by Festival der Zukunft, FILMFEST MÜNCHEN and XR HUB Bavaria. In collaboration with Residenztheater München and Deutsches Theatermuseum München, and supported by FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, MUNICH Beyond brings together groundbreaking XR works from around the world and strengthens Munich and Bavaria as an emerging hub for immersive storytelling. In this networking session, key players from the regional ecosystem will share insights into the collaborations, structures and support systems shaping XR in Bavaria today. Together with international artists and guests — including contributors from the Netherlands, whose participation is made possible with the kind support of the Kingdom of the Netherlands — the session opens a space for exchange on new creative alliances, future audiences and the next steps for immersive media in Europe.
