From Vision to Reality: Scaling Regenerative and Net Positive Construction

16:15 – 17:15

Friday, 3 July 2026

If visionary architecture asks what becomes possible, this session asks what it takes to make it happen. From circular materials and adaptive reuse to digital planning and new construction methods, many of the tools for more sustainable construction already exist. Buildings can be designed not only to reduce harm, but increasingly to create positive impact — restoring ecosystems, strengthening communities, and generating long-term ecological and social value. Yet bringing promising ideas into everyday practice remains difficult. This interactive session moves beyond vision to focus on implementation: what is already working, where more sustainable and regenerative approaches still struggle, and what must change for better ways of building to scale. Through concrete case studies and open discussion, the session explores a central question: if better ways of building already exist, what is preventing us from making them the norm rather than the exception?
