Beyond text and images: The next stage AI creates value from data and processes

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly gaining momentum across industries and many organizations have already taken important first steps. These efforts typically focus on chatbots, content creation, and integration of internal data lakes. They deliver clear improvements in efficiency and productivity. At the same time, a large opportunity comes from applying AI to industry-specific data and core business processes. Real value emerges when AI handles complex industrial data, and integrates directly into business workflows and decision-making processes. In this talk, we explore how organizations can advance to the next stage of AI adoption. We highlight success factors: the types of data involved, the importance of process integration, and the shift toward agentic AI systems that interact directly with real operations. With real-world cases from the Fraunhofer Alliance Big Data and AI, we demonstrate how AI creates measurable impact in industrial and business contexts.
