Unlocking Institutional Capital for European DeepTech VC: What Would Make Institutional Allocations Inevitable (Not Exceptional)

Teil von DeepTech Ripples: Debating Europe’s Breakthrough Future

14:55 – 15:40 Uhr

Donnerstag, 2. Juli 2026

The success of European DeepTech depends on the availability of significant volumes of long‑term capital, yet institutional investors remain underrepresented in venture capital allocations. While regulatory constraints play a role, they do not fully explain this gap. Structural barriers, limited transparency, and cultural mismatches between institutional asset‑allocation processes and venture capital structures continue to inhibit broader participation. This Ripple examines how European institutional investors can be better enabled to allocate meaningfully to venture capital, particularly in DeepTech. Beyond discussing urgent needs around regulation and incentives, the session focuses on what venture funds and the broader DeepTech ecosystem can do to actively support institutional allocators. The discussion centers on practical, ecosystem‑driven strategies to improve transparency, comparability, and allocability across European venture capital.
