Klaus Klaas Loenhart

Univ. Prof. & CEO - Head of Design and Research bei TERRAIN: INTEGRAL DESIGNS & TERRAIN LAB

LinkedIn

Klaus K Loenhart imagines the future of our urban agglomerations, buildings and landscapes as interwoven living biomes. As a professor and head of design and research, he and his teams at the TERRAIN.LAB, as well as in his studio TERRAIN: INTEGRAL DESIGNS, based in Munich and Graz, develop integral living systems at the intersection of ecology, climate, and human health. This perspective is informed by his conceptions on performative Nature-Culture and as laid out in his recent Publication – Breathe: Investigations into Our Atmospherically Entangled Future – which articulates the conceptual and architectural relevance of atmosphere as leitmotif of future design. As a natural/techno-logical hybrid, the Austrian Pavilion at the EXPO World Exhibition in Milan became the successful proof of concept for this Nature-performative Biometeorological Spatial Design. His current work was recently awarded the UNESCO Global Award for Sustainable Architecture.
