Dr. Fleming Bruckmaier is the Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of QuantumDiamonds GmbH, a Munich-based quantum sensing company. He studied physics and earned his doctorate at the Technical University of Munich, where his research focused on quantum sensing with nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond. During his PhD, he played a central role in building the lab's experimental infrastructure and widefield magnetic imaging capabilities. In 2022, he co-founded QuantumDiamonds with Kevin Berghoff to bring this technology from lab to fab. The company now counts 70+ heads and is currently building a state-of-the-art fabrication site in Munich-East. As CTO, he leads the development of QD's quantum sensing systems, which make electrical currents inside advanced semiconductor chips visible through high-resolution magnetic field imaging. The technology is now used by leading semiconductor manufacturers worldwide for failure analysis of complex chip architectures. In 2026, QD received the Technology Transfer Award of the German Physical Society (DPG) for translating cutting-edge physics into industrial applications.
