WebsiteDr. Juliane Welz studied geography at Leipzig University and completed her doctorate in human geography at the University of Hamburg (2012). From 2007 to 2016, she worked as a research associate at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in the Department of Urban and Environmental Sociology, focusing on social and environmental science issues in Latin American megacities. She has many years of experience in inter- and transdisciplinary research cooperation. Since July 2017 she works at Fraunhofer and heads the Futures and Innovation Unit in Leipzig and is Deputy Head of the Department Foresight. Her current field of activity focuses on developing future-oriented knowledge in interdisciplinary technology research at the intersection of society and the environment, linking it with methodological tools from futures research (foresight) as well as knowledge and technology transfer. Areas of application include, among others, digitalisation, agriculture, value creation and fututre of work.
