Moritz Helmstaedter

Moritz Helmstaedter, a medical doctor and physicist by training, is the Managing Director of the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt am Main, where he heads the Connectomics department. His work focuses on mapping the neural networks in the brain, asking how information is stored in the brain? How do our neuronal networks determine behavioral success? And are there disease-related changes in these networks: neuropsychiatric disorders as potential connectopathies? In 2024, he received the Leibniz Prize from the German Research Foundation (DFG).
