Dr. Stefan Permien is the CEO and co-founder of UniverCell, a German company focused on battery cell and electrode production for special application markets. With a background in chemistry from the University of Kiel and a PhD focused on lithium-ion battery materials, Stefan is a recognized expert in the battery industry. He also holds an MBA, which complements his technical expertise with strong business acumen. Before founding UniverCell in 2019, Dr. Permien served as Chief Technology Officer at Customcells Itzehoe. His ambition to scale beyond research and into full-scale battery production led him to create UniverCell. Today, the company aims to push the boundaries of battery technology and contribute to Europe's growing energy storage market, with a focus on sustainability and innovative energy solutions. UniverCell is scaling up production at its Flintbek facility, targeting significant growth in Europe's battery sector, which is expected to see rapid expansion in the coming years.
