Christian Sigl

Christian Sigl is the founder and CEO of capsitec GmbH, a company on a mission to combat the significant human suffering and societal burden caused by viral diseases. With many of these diseases lacking treatment options and no broadly applicable antiviral drugs available, Christian and his team at capsitec have developed a programmable antiviral drug platform called "virus trap." This technology uses entry inhibition to neutralize viruses by enclosing them in specially designed macromolecular shells. The virus trap can deactivate numerous viruses using the same platform and has the potential to be effective in fighting newly emerging viral diseases or disease variants as a pre-exposure protective agent or treatment for acute infections. As an expert in DNA nanotechnology, Christian played a crucial role in the development of the technology behind the virus trap during his PhD studies at the Technical University of Munich.
