Martin Leib

Martin Leib is a theoretical physicist leading the Algorithms and Applications team in IQM, the European leader in quantum computers, where he explores quantum simulation, quantum optimization and quantum machine learning algorithms. After his PhD on the theory of superconducting qubits focusing on analog simulation of quantum many body dynamics, he developed an extensive academic career. During it, he had Postdoc positions at RIKEN Tokyo, Heriot-Watt Edinburgh and finally at the IQOQI in Innsbruck, where his research focus went up the hardware abstraction ladder, finally working on ideas for a quantum optimisation co-design with transmon qubits. Before joining IQM, he worked in the quantum algorithm team of Volkswagen, where he explored fundamental aspects of quantum optimisation as well as quantum chemistry calculations with quantum annealers.
