Artist

Simon Stimberg is an audio-visual artist whose work explores the human subjective relationship to technology, the emergence of digital life forms and the beauty of complex chaotic systems. Fascinated by nature and increasingly autonomous algorithms, he creates generative and interactive installations that immerse the viewer in artificial yet organic micro-verses. The aesthetic of his work is strongly characterized by the opposition of analog technology to digital algorithms and the repurposing of obsolete devices as tangible interfaces that enable the audience to physically engage with virtual, disembodied entities.
Coming from a musical as well as a filmic background, his works feature tightly coupled visual and musical elements that coalesce into an interconnected audio-visual language. By fusing sound and moving images, not only on a semantic level, but with a visceral connection, he strives to translate musical syntax into a visual form - composing images in categories of mood, rhythm and harmony.
His work includes audiovisual installations, live visuals, as well as linear video works and has been shown at various media art festivals, group exhibitions as well as in public space.
