Merzmensch
Merzmensch (Vladimir Alexeev) is a cultural scientist, publicist and artist. After studying literature and cultural studies, specialising in the historical avant-garde, he discovered another passion: generative AI. Since the first developments in this field (2016), he has been working theoretically and practically on the topic of creative collaboration between humans and machines. In addition to his blog Merzazine (medium.com/merzazine), he writes essays on 'Creative Use of AI' (e.g. 2020 for Harper's Magazine or 2023 for the volume 'Angewandte Data Science', Springer Vieweg Verlag). In 2023 his book 'KI-Kunst' was published in the series 'Digitale Buchkulturen', Wagenbach-Verlag, which is now available in a second, updated edition. Also in 2023, he illustrated the essay anthology 'Postumano' for the Rome Opera House using various generative processes. In his artistic work, Merzmensch explores the interaction between human culture and its interpretation. His work has been exhibited at Galerie Greulich (Frankfurt), Deutsches Museum (Munich), Elisabeth Street Gallery and Unfold Gallery (New York), Kulturmuseum Bern, among others.
